Downey, California, boomed as a post-World War II suburb, populated with one-story California ranch-style homes to aerospace workers and their families. This project took a one-story nondescript home and reconfigured the interior layout to interact with the outdoor living area, adding a master suite. BLD rethemed the exterior to a traditional California Craftsman Ranch home so that the house could appear to be part of the neighborhood and not a modern out-of-place mansion.
